SEAI Better Energy Homes Heat Pump Grant
About the Grant:
Heat pumps are renewable heating systems offering lower energy costs and reduced carbon emissions. However your home must be well insulated to benefit from a heat pump. This grant covers a range of different types of heat pump systems and, where applicable, a grant towards your technical assessment. Heat pump grants are paid for first time systems. They are not paid for replacement heat pumps.
Who can Apply:
All homeowners, including private landlords, whose homes were built and occupied before 2021 can apply. This is different to other grant measures where the home must be built before 2011.
Technical Assessment Requirement:
For homes built before 2007
- A Technical Assessment is required if you do not have a valid Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessment or if your BER Assessment indicates your dwelling has a high heat loss (Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) greater than 2.3).
For homes built from 2007 onwards
- A Technical Assessment is not required due to the original building fabric, your dwelling is likely to have a sufficient heat loss. You can fill out and upload the Self-Declaration form during the heat pump application process.
- Optional Technical Assessment - You may choose to carry out a Technical Assessment, but this is not mandatory.
